Nordic Serenity at Sea
Few places on earth feel as peaceful — or as vast — as the Stockholm Archipelago. A maze of 24,000 islands stretches out from Sweden’s capital, where open sea meets pine forests and granite skerries. Here, sailing isn’t about chasing speed — it’s about slowing down. June to August brings long, golden days and gentle winds that invite you to drift, explore, and breathe the northern light.
The Route: Island by Island
Day 1 – Stockholm to Sandhamn (25 NM)
Leave the city behind and glide into the islands. Sandhamn is the gateway to the outer archipelago — lively yet traditional, with red cottages and sailors’ stories in every harbor.
Day 2 – Sandhamn to Möja (15 NM)
Sail through narrow passages lined with fir trees and smooth rocks. Möja welcomes you with quiet anchorages, local cafés, and that timeless Swedish calm.
Day 3 – Möja to Finnhamn (10 NM)
A short, scenic leg brings you to Finnhamn, known for its sheltered bays and nature trails. Drop anchor, take a swim, and light the sauna onboard — the true Nordic evening ritual.
Day 4 – Finnhamn to Norrpada (10 NM)
Sail into the wild side of the archipelago. Norrpada is remote and raw — just sea, rock, and sky. A perfect night under the stars.
Day 5 – Norrpada to Grinda (15 NM)
Turn south again to Grinda, an island full of life. Hike its trails, enjoy fresh fish by the water, and watch the sun dip behind the pines.
Day 6 – Grinda to Vaxholm (10 NM)
Vaxholm brings you closer to civilization — colorful houses, small shops, and ferries buzzing through the channels. It’s a classic Swedish harbor town, still wrapped in tranquility.
Day 7 – Vaxholm to Stockholm (10 NM)
Sail back toward the capital. As the skyline reappears, you realize how close wild nature lives beside the city — a world of islands waiting just beyond the horizon.
